Light:Guard » News » Press Release: EnBW and Light:Guard sign framework agreement for Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems for new turbines
Light:Guard GmbH and EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG have signed a framework agreement for the supply of ADLS signals. This includes equipping new turbines operated by EnBW with Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS).
Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS) reduce the flashing of wind turbines to a minimum. The system monitors the airspace around a wind farm for this purpose. When an aircraft approaches, the suppression of the lighting is lifted and the red light flashes as before. Since the beginning of the year, the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) has stipulated the use of ADLS on wind turbines.
EnBW operates wind turbines with a total output of around 654 megawatts at over 50 locations in Germany. The wind turbines have already been equipped with an ADLS system in accordance with the legal requirements. Now, in the coming years, new wind farms that are to be built must already have a functional ADLS when they are commissioned.
“Climate neutrality is an important issue for us. Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems reduce light pollution and contribute to the acceptance of wind power expansion,” explains Marko Mileticki, project coordinator in purchasing for wind energy at EnBW. ”That’s why we chose Light:Guard as our partner. The quality of the system and the option of installing it before the turbines are erected were the deciding factors.”
According to the agreement, Light:Guard will exclusively equip the agreed portfolio of EnBW with the light:guard Aircraft Detection Lighting System. This also applies to affiliated companies of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. The contract is thus an extension of the existing cooperation for existing plants with Light:Guard’s sister company Quantec Sensors. More than 200 existing plants have already been darkened with the light:guard system as part of this cooperation.
“We are very much looking forward to working together,” says Claudia Flörke, Senior Sales Manager at Light:Guard. “EnBW is a big name and we are proud of the trust placed in us. Together, we will continue to darken the night sky in the coming years.”
