Light:Guard » News » Press Release: Nordex and Light:Guard jointly offer Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems for new wind farms
The Nordex Group and Light:Guard are entering into a partnership. The core of the partnership is to equip new Nordex wind farms being built in Germany with the light:guard Aircraft Detection Lighting System, or ADLS for short. Wind farm developers can now order this system when placing orders for wind turbines with Nordex, so that it is integrated into the turbines ex works.
Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems reduce the red flashing of wind turbine lights at night to a minimum. The system monitors the airspace around a wind farm. Only when an aircraft approaches is the suppression of the lighting lifted. Since January 1, 2025, the use of ADLS on wind turbines has been mandatory under the EEG.
The cooperation between the Nordex Group and Light:Guard makes it easier for wind farm planners and operators to efficiently comply with these legal requirements. When purchasing the turbines, the ADL system can simply be added as an option from Nordex, similar to a bat module or ice detection system, for example. This ensures that installation is completed well before the wind farm goes into operation, eliminating the need for later installation.
“Germany is one of the countries with the strictest requirements for wind turbines, especially with regard to their environmental compatibility during operation. The most efficient way to meet the legal requirements for ADLS is to equip wind turbines with an ADL system during installation,” explains Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Central at Nordex.
The integration of the “ADLS ex works” option simplifies many processes. Systems no longer need to be installed on site during the construction process in a plant-specific manner. Integration into the nacelle also reduces the number of components. This significantly reduces the amount of work involved for wind farm operators in terms of contracts and coordination.
“ADLS technology has undergone a significant maturation process in recent years,” says Claudia Flörke, Senior Sales Manager at Light:Guard. “We are now focusing on further standardizing standards, continuously improving quality, and integrating our technology even better into the IT systems of plant manufacturers. We have been working with Nordex in the field of ADLS for five years. We are delighted to now extend this partnership to new turbines.”
