Press Release: NOTUS energy and Light:Guard sign framework agreement on Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems for new turbines

Dresden / Potsdam, 14th July 2026

Light:Guard GmbH and NOTUS energy GmbH have signed a framework agreement for the supply of ADLS signals. This agreement covers the installation of ADLS signals in new wind farms operated by NOTUS.

The agreement was signed this week and will run for several years. During this period, Light:Guard will equip the majority of the NOTUS portfolio with the light:guard Aircraft Detection Lighting System. This involves 21 projects comprising a total of 83 wind turbines.

Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS) reduce the flashing of wind turbines to a minimum. To achieve this, the system monitors the airspace around a wind farm. If an aircraft approaches, it lifts the suppression of the lighting, and the red light flashes as before. Since last year, the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) has mandated the use of ADLS on wind turbines.

“With our projects, we want to show consideration for people and nature. Equipping our wind farms with ADLS is therefore a top priority for us. In Light:Guard, we have found a reliable partner for this,” explains NOTUS Managing Director Hannes Otto.

NOTUS and Light:Guard have been collaborating in the field of ADLS for several years now. During this time, numerous existing turbines have already been switched dark using the light:guard system.

“We thank NOTUS for their trust,” says Eileen Hänel, Sales Manager at Light:Guard. “The negotiations were very pleasant, and we look forward to continuing our productive collaboration to make the night sky darker together.”
