Light:Guard » News » Press Release: Landwind and Light:Guard Sign Exclusive ADLS Framework Agreement
The Landwind Group and Light:Guard GmbH have signed an exclusive framework agreement to equip wind turbines with Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS). The agreement runs for three years and covers approximately 130 turbines across more than 20 wind farms.
ADLS reduces the flashing of wind turbines to a minimum. To achieve this, the system monitors the airspace around a wind farm. If an aircraft approaches, the system deactivates the suppression of the obstruction lighting, and the red lights flash as usual.
The new agreement further expands the cooperation between the two companies. Landwind and Light:Guard had already signed a framework agreement in 2021. Since then, the light:guard system has ensured that the obstruction lighting on Landwind turbines remains switched off whenever the airspace is clear. Most of the wind farms covered by the new agreement are newly constructed; several of the projects involve repowering.
Landwind Managing Director Bärbel Heidebroek emphasizes: “For us, good relations with our neighbors mean that the people and communities on site benefit from the energy transition. Community benefit payments are one way of contributing to this, as are measures to reduce light pollution. Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems ensure that the nighttime lighting of our wind turbines is significantly reduced. With Light:Guard, we have a reliable partner at our side to achieve this. We look forward to continuing our long-term cooperation.”
Light:Guard is equally positive about the continuation of the partnership. Senior Sales Manager Claudia Flörke accompanied the contract process and was recently on site for the opening of the Landwind Söllingen wind farm in Lower Saxony. Light:Guard also supplied the ADLS for that project.
“It was great to see first-hand how our cooperation works and how our system contributes to the bigger picture. This particularly motivates us to continue the partnership and to work with Landwind to make the nights around their wind farms darker,” says Claudia Flörke.
Claudia Flörke, Felix Weiss and Bärbel Heidebroek (Landwind) seal the deal with a handshake at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026.
