Press Release: Light:Guard turns wind farms from re:cap global investors dark

re:cap global investors ag has completed the installation of Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS) at the wind farms it manages. The wind turbines will receive the system from Light:Guard GmbH.

The use of ADLS is required by law in Germany for wind turbines. The deadline for wind farm operators to implement the system is the end of this year, after which they will face penalties. re:cap has thus complied with the legal requirements for the wind farms in good time.

In total, the re:cap global investors ag portfolio equipped here includes wind farms with 59 turbines from various manufacturers. These are located in 6 federal states.

Willi Lehmann, Managing Director of Light:Guard, explains: “re:cap placed its trust in us early on. Since then, we have been continuously working on equipping their wind farms with ADLS. The fact that we have now successfully completed this project and that the parks are dark is an important milestone for us. We look forward to further joint projects.”

Aircraft Detection Lighting System is a technology that can reduce the flashing of wind turbines to a minimum. This works by the ADLS system monitoring the airspace around a wind farm. Only when an aircraft is in the vicinity, the obstacle lights of the turbines are activated. The signals are received via transponders and evaluated using multilateration. The ADLS system continuously receives data from all receivers simultaneously and can thus determine the exact location and flight path. This also achieves higher light-out times – in some cases up to 99%.

The light:guard system is already active throughout Germany and covers more than one-seventh of Germany in compliance with AVV. Thanks to the ongoing expansion of the ADLS infrastructure, progress is now accelerating. Until the end of October, light:guard can offer ADLS within eight weeks, provided that the systems are located in a surveyed area.
