Light:Guard » News » Press Release: Light:Guard takes over site-specific testing for ADL systems
Light:Guard GmbH is now offering to carry out the site-specific inspection for wind farms. This offer is part of the signal delivery contract for the conversion to Aircraft Detection Lighting System (ADLS). To this end, Light:Guard is working closely with the approved certification body DFS Aviation Services GmbH to ensure that the approval process runs as smoothly as possible.
The approval package provided by Light:Guard, which includes both the documentation of the own light:guard system and, if applicable, that of leading WTG manufacturers, makes it possible to avoid costly preliminary testing. This can be achieved by Light:Guard approaching the national aviation authorities with a specific concept and obtaining statements. Subsequently, the site-specific test can be carried out in accordance with AVV Appendix 6 No. 2.
Light:Guard managing director Willi Lehmann explains: “This concept allows us to make the costs fixed and transparent. This is particularly advantageous for wind farm operators, because the complete liability and cost risk remains with us.”
The Light:Guard signal supply contract therefore also includes an extraordinary right of termination for customers in the event that the state aviation authority rejects ADLS due to the wind farm’s site characteristics. This is to ensure that the ADLS upgrade can be completed in time everywhere by the legally required deadline of December 31, 2022.
Light:Guard is working closely with the BImSchG authorities, the state aviation authorities and their designated body, as well as DFS Aviation Services, the inspection body for ADLS systems designated by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI).
Stefan Mauel from DFS Aviation Services GmbH (DAS) says: “The close cooperation between DAS as the designated body, the authorities and Light:Guard offers the greatest synergies for efficient approval processing for wind farm operators.”
This collaboration has already been successful in the district of Borken in North Rhine-Westphalia. “We are pleased to have found a solution together with all parties involved that now also offers local citizen wind farms in the vicinity of aerodromes the opportunity to set up an ADLS,” adds Monika Agatz from the BImSchG authority.
