Light:Guard » News » Press Release: Quantec Sensors and Vestas begin Cooperation
Quantec Sensors GmbH and Vestas Deutschland GmbH are entering into a comprehensive partnership in the area of Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS). This partnership primarily involves the installation of Quantec Sensors’ light:guard system in existing Vestas wind turbines.
With this step, Vestas and Quantec are combining their expertise in the field of transponder-based ADLS to offer wind farm operators in Germany ADLS signals across the board and to enable a smooth and timely retrofitting of wind turbines. According to the requirements of the General Administrative Regulation for the Marking of Aviation Obstacles (AVV), these must be equipped by December 31, 2022 in Germany with an Aircraft Detection Lighting System.
With this common goal in mind, Vestas, the world’s largest manufacturer of wind turbines, and Quantec, a pioneer in the field of on-demand nighttime aircraft detection lighting, have joined forces. “In Quantec, we have found a trustworthy partner for implementing the ADLS guidelines, whose light:guard system fully meets our requirements. Ensuring timely implementation of the legal requirements for our customers is our top priority. In cooperation with Quantec, we are providing several options for implementation,” says Christian Dee, Specialist Parts & Repair Sales Germany, Vestas Northern & Central Europe.
The quality of Quantec Sensors’ ADLS system has recently been confirmed by the type certificate received. Among other things, this certifies that the light:guard system meets the guidelines of the German General Administrative Regulation for the Marking of Aviation Obstacles (AVV) and is approved for equipping wind turbines in Germany.
The aim of the cooperation is to convert all existing Vestas wind turbines to ADLS by December 31, 2022 and to supply the Vestas turbine fleet in Germany with transponder signals. This is guaranteed in any case if the wind farm operator places an order by April 30, 2021. For this purpose, Vestas offers a retrofit to an Aircraft Detection Lighting System including signal delivery. The signal is provided by Quantec via the transponder-based light:guard detection system. “Wind farm operators thus have the advantage of being able to switch to ADLS without the need for additional contractual partners. This simplifies communication and enables attractive pricing for wind farms of any size,” explains Alexander Gerdes, CEO of Quantec Sensors.
Wind farm operators are welcome to address their inquiries about the conversion directly to their Vestas account manager or to [email protected].
